GFS, forecast pressure and precipitation, 16:00 BST Sun 5th August
The early part of next week brings more hot weather to the south with temperatures on Monday and Tuesday possibly reaching 33C (91F). However, there is an increasing risk of thundery downpours as pressure begins to fall.
During the middle of the week cooler and more mixed weather is expected to push southwards. Forecast details are uncertain but a more typical west or southwesterly flow probably returns, at least for a time. That means the driest and warmest weather can be expected in southern counties, but even there it could be a more uncertain picture than has been the case for much of the summer.
