Maximum temperatures range from 17C (63F) in the far north west to 25C (77F) in East Anglia. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Winter 2018/19 weather

Tonight it turns drier in the north but another band of showery rain spreads eastwards across the south. The north and west have a fresh night but it will be quite muggy in eastern England.

Tomorrow rain quickly clears from the south east to leave much of the country with bright and pleasantly warm conditions. In Northern Ireland wet and windy weather develops pushes in from the west and during the afternoon it extends into western Scotland.

Mid week warm up

Through the middle of the week high pressure begins to build and become the dominant feature of the weather. That leads to increasingly dry and warm periods in the south and east but the north and west remain more changeable for a time. By Thursday maximum temperatures in south eastern England approach 30C (86F).

The weekend is expected to be fine and very warm in the southern half of the UK. In the north there are likely to be quite a lot of dry spells too but also a greater risk of showery spells of rain. Recent computer model runs have shown very warm air from southern Europe pushing northwards and it could reach the UK. If it does temperatures as high as 34C (93F) are possible in the south.
