GFS, forecast cloud cover, 19:00 BST Wed 11th July
Thursday will be very warm in much of the UK with temperatures in the south pushing up into the high 20Cs. Across the northern half of Scotland thicker cloud brings some patchy rain and elsewhere there is a risk of scattered thundery showers breaking out in the afternoon.
By Friday temperatures in the south east could be nudging 30C (86F) in sunny periods. Thundery showers return, especially in western and northern regions, but they are expected to be hit and miss.
Through Saturday and Sunday there should be a good deal of fine weather. If you are planning a barbecue for the England match (Sunday if all goes to plan, Saturday if it goes wrong!) it is likely to be very warm in much of the country but there is a risk of thundery showers.
Next week more changeable weather is forecast but the details are uncertain. The greatest chance of wet spells is in the north and west with the south and east possibly continuing to be mostly dry. Temperatures remain above the average in most of the country and in the south east it could continue to be hot and humid for much of the time.
