Through the day there will be sunny spells, but cloud in the north steadily push southwards across central and eastern regions. Tonight there could be a few spots of rain in East Anglia and south east England for a time before clearer skies return. In the far north west of the UK cloud builds later.

Tomorrow England and Wales have a fine day with sunny spells. Temperatures will be lower than recently peaking in the mid 20Cs. In Scotland and Northern Ireland thicker cloud produces patchy outbreaks of rain.

Wednesday brings similar conditions. Scattered showers are possible over the southern half of the UK and in the north thicker cloud could bring some rain.

Mid week and beyond

During Thursday and Friday a belt of high pressure will stretch from the Azores northeastwards across the UK and into Scandinavia. Temperatures climb and by Friday they could be reaching 30C (86F) once more in the south. There is a risk of thundery showers, particularly in the west and north.

Through the weekend and beyond things are more uncertain. Computer models suggest a transition to more changeable weather is possible as low pressure areas begin to push in from the Atlantic. However, there could be further and very warm periods this summer could soon be challenging more records.
