Saturday starts dry but low cloud has spread westwards across much of the UK overnight. Through the morning the cloud steadily burns away but in central and eastern areas it takes longer for sunny periods to develop than yesterday. This afternoon there will be a good deal of sunshine but isolated showers may pop up in the south west and Northern Ireland.
Most of the country has another very warm day with maximum temperatures in central southern England close to 31C (88F). Near the east coast it remains cooler. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Summer forecast overview
Tonight low cloud returns in the east and in the south west thundery showers may become more widespread. Temperatures fall to around 10C (50F) in the east and 18C (64F) in the south west.
Tomorrow there will be more sunshine but in the south west and central southern counties scattered thunderstorms break out. It's also expected to be cloudier in western Scotland with patchy outbreaks of rain. Temperatures in the London area could hit 31C (88F) and humidity levels in southern and central areas will be higher than recently .
GFS, forecast rainfall, 16:00 BST Sun 1st July
On Monday scattered showers are possible in the south west but elsewhere it should very warm weather with sunny periods. A similar picture is likely on Tuesday but there could be more cloud in the south west and the north where some patchy rain is possible.
The middle part of the week brings spells of warm sunshine but temperatures are likely to ease off and cloudier periods are expected. There could be some showers too but many places miss them and stay very dry.
Through the second half of the week the Atlantic remains locked out. That means more fine and warm weather but the risk of showers or thunderstorms possibly remains.
