This evening the showers fade away to leave a dry and clear night. It will feel fresher in the south than recently.
Tomorrow a change in the weather takes place as a ridge of high pressure topples southeastwards across the UK. That allows wet and windy weather to move in from the Atlantic and push eastwards across northern areas. Southern and central regions have sunny spells and scattered showers early on, but later in the day cloud builds from the west.
On Thursday a band of rain pushes southeastwards. Blustery and showery conditions follow and in the northern half of the UK gales are possible. It will be quite cool, especially in the north.

Friday brings a mix of sunshine and showers to central and northern areas. In the south a weak ridge of high pressure should keep it mostly dry. It will be cool in the north but temperatures could reach 21C (70F) in south eastern England.
The changeable theme continues this weekend. On Saturday heavy showers or longer spells of rain affect much of the UK as an area of low pressure pushes eastwards across Scotland. Sheltered parts of the south east have the driest and warmest conditions.
By Sunday it may turn drier and warmer in the southern half of the UK due to high pressure building from the southwest. In the north it remains cooler and showery.

Next week the changeable pattern continues. All of the UK could see wet spells, however drier and warmer days are likely, especially in the south. At this time year the terms "European Monsoon" and "return of the westerlies" are used to describe a transition back to typical British summer weather.
