Friday starts with patchy outbreaks of rain stretching from Wales to North Yorkshire. To the south and north it is dry. This morning the rain eases and sunny spells develop in southern and central regions, but near the east coast it remains overcast. Northern Ireland and Scotland have sunny periods, however there is a risk of thundery showers in the west this afternoon.
Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the east to 22C (72F) in the sunshine. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Summer forecast overview
Tonight showers in the north west slowly fade away. Elsewhere it will be mostly dry, although by the end of the night there is a chance of thundery showers pushing into the south west.
Tomorrow thundery showers are likely in the north west, and possibly Wales and the south west. Other areas remain dry with warm sunny periods, although eastern coastal counties keep murky and cooler conditions. Temperatures could reach 25C (77F) in the south.
A repeat performance is expected on Sunday. Most places have warm sunny spells but thundery showers continue in the north and west. Temperatures may touch 26C (78F) in the southern half of the UK.
Monday brings more warm weather to central and northern areas but there will still be scattered showers. In the south there is a chance of thundery outbreaks of rain pushing up from the near continent, however that is uncertain and it could remain dry and humid.
GFS, forecast pressure and precipitation, 16:00 BST Thu 14th June
Tuesday and Wednesday should be mostly fine. Beyond that it looks as though a westerly flow will return to the northern half of the UK as high pressure becomes centred farther south. That suggests more typical summer weather with the driest and brightest spells in the south and wet spells most frequent in the north.
