Summer forecast overview

Hirlam forecast chart

Hirlam, forecast temperatures, 16:00 BST Mon 4th June

Tonight showers in the west fade away to leave clear spells. Cloud near the east coast spreads inland.

Tomorrow should be mostly fine although there could be scattered showers in the west and over Northern Ireland they may turn heavy. Some cloudier periods are possible, particularly in the south. In sunny spells it feels pleasantly warm.

Fine mid week

The middle part of the week should bring plenty of fine and warm weather but eastern coastal counties remain cloudier. Maximum temperatures of between 21C (70F) to 25C (77F) are likely in the south and west but it stays cooler near the east coast. Thundery showers could return to southern counties.

Weekend and beyond

The weekend should see the settled spell continuing in much of the UK and temperatures may push up towards 27C (81F) in the south. Thundery showers are a possibility and at the moment the greatest risk looks to be in the west.

GFS forecast chart

GFS, forecast pressure and precipitation, 16:00 BST Sat 9th June

Forecast confidence for next week is low. More mixed weather probably develops but the latest guidance suggests changes to the synoptic set-up across the North Atlantic region will be slow. Pressure could remain high to the north of the UK with wet spells most likely in the south as low pressure centred over southern Europe pushes northwards at times. The chance of a west or southwesterly flow increases later in the week but it is not a certainty. If that happens the driest and warmest spells would become focused on the south.
