High pressure is set to be the dominant feature of the UK's weather this week. That means it will be mostly dry but on Wednesday cooler air pushes southeastwards. By the weekend temperatures should be rising again.

Monday starts fine but a cold night has led to a touch of ground frost in hollows. This morning sunny spells develop in much of the country and they continue through the afternoon. The exceptions will be the north west of the UK where thicker cloud brings patchy rain. Also East Anglia and the south eastern corner have cloudier and windier conditions with a risk of showers.
Temperatures range from 14C (57F) in the north west to 20C (68F) in central and southern England. See the rain radar for the latest view.
GFS, pressure and precipitation, 16:00 BST Mon 14th May
Tonight it remains cloudy in the far north west and there will be further outbreaks of rain. Elsewhere it will be dry and clear.
Tomorrow the south and east have a sunny day and temperatures could reach a warm 24C (75F). In the north west cloudier skies bring outbreaks of rain and through the day they push southeastwards. By early evening the wet weather reaches Wales and northern England. Clearer and cooler air follows on behind.
Hirlam , forecast temperatures, 16:00 BST Tue 15th May
Patchy rain clears from the south east early on Wednesday to leave a bright day in all regions as high pressure builds in from the west. The upper level air mass will be quite cool, so although the strong May sun should make it feel pleasant, temperatures will be lower than in recent days.
The dry weather continues on Thursday but there is uncertainty about cloud amounts. Under cloudy skies it will feel cool but where the sun shines for any length of time it should feel pleasant.
By Friday the upper level air over the UK starts to warm up. That should be lead to a corresponding increase in surface level temperatures but they also depend on the amount of cloud. At the moment it looks like maximum values will be close to 20C (68F).
High pressure remains in charge of the weather across most of the UK this weekend but disturbances from the Atlantic continue to trouble the far north west. Conditions for the royal wedding in Windsor on Saturday may be perfect with spells of warm sunshine. By Sunday temperatures perhaps reach 23C (73F) with a low risk of isolated showers breaking out.
The first half of next week should bring a good deal of fine and warm weather to the south. In the north it may become more changeable.
