[Updated 08:40 22/04/2018]

Thunderstorms have cleared overnight to leave a fine start to Sunday in central and eastern Britain. In the far west and across Northern Ireland it is cloudy and wet. Through the day outbreaks of rain push southeastwards but they become patchy. Ahead of them in the south east there will be spells of warm sunshine and brighter skies return in the west too.

Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in the far north west to 23C (74F) in the London area, so it will be very warm for the marathon. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Arpege forecast chart

Tonight showers continue in the north west. Elsewhere it become dry and clear spells lead to a chilly night.

Tomorrow showers or longer spells of rain affect northern and western areas. In other regions showers are possible but it should be mostly dry and bright.

Changeable and cooler outlook

During the middle of the week changeable weather continues. Drier and brighter periods alternate with wet spells.

The second half of the week is expected to be quite cool and unsettled. Forecast details are uncertain but there are indications of an area of low pressure pushing southeastwards across the UK. That brings the likelihood of rain and chilly conditions next weekend.

The GFS chart below for next Saturday shows low pressure bringing rain to much of the UK as it moves in from the west.
