Monday starts damp in parts of northern and western Britain. This morning the rain becomes confined to Scotland and gradually fades away. Elsewhere sunny spells develop. During the afternoon it remains bright in the east but cloud builds in the west and outbreaks of rain push into Northern Ireland.
Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in parts of the north to 16C (61F) in the south. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
ICON 00z, forecast temperatures, 16:00 BST Mon 16th April
Tonight wet and windy weather spreads across the north and west of the UK. Much of England stays dry and by the end of the night clearer skies return to Northern Ireland.
Tomorrow outbreaks of rain push southeastwards and become increasingly patchy. In the north west brighter and showery conditions return. South eastern England and East Anglia will be dry and quite warm throughout the day.
By Wednesday high pressure centred over the near continent will be exerting its influence on the UK's weather. In the north west the risk of rain continues but elsewhere it will be fine and warm. Temperatures over much of central and eastern Britain exceed 21C (70F).
On Thursday it becomes even warmer and there is a chance of 27C (81F) being reached locally in the south east. The warmest upper level air will be over southern and eastern Britain so in the north west temperatures won't be as high.
GFS 00z, forecast temperatures, 16:00 BST Thu 19th April
Friday is also looking very warm across England and Wales and there is a risk of isolated thunderstorms breaking out in the south. However high pressure will be declining and cooler air from the Atlantic probably moves over the northern regions bringing a risk of showers.
As we head into the weekend there is some uncertainty but most computer models are showing a good deal of dry and warm weather in central and eastern counties. In the north and west there is a more chance of showers or more prolonged outbreaks of rain.
