Wet weather affects parts of the UK today. During the week ahead an easterly flow is set to bring very mixed conditions. Some heavy showery outbreaks of rain are likely but there is also the potential for warm sunny spells in the south and west.

Sunday begins damp in East Anglia and southern England. During the rest of the day patchy outbreaks of rain continue to trouble central and eastern areas but there may be a few bright intervals too. The north and west have a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.

Maximum temperatures this afternoon range from 7C (45F) in western Scotland to 15C (59F) in the south west. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
Tonight outbreaks of rain affect central and eastern England. Elsewhere it should be dry.
Tomorrow spells of rain spread northwards across England and Wales. At times they could be heavy but East Anglia, the south west and western Wales could miss the worst of them. Northern Ireland and Scotland have scattered showers but also dry and bright periods.
During Tuesday wet weather pushes northwards into Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some cloud breaks could form behind it but another area of wet weather probably moves into the south. In the sunshine it will feel quite warm.
During the middle and second half of the week an east or southeasterly flow is expected to be established over the UK. The day to day forecast details will change but there is the potential for heavy and thundery outbreaks of rain at times.
Despite upper air temperatures being well above the average it is likely to be raw in the north and east due to the wind blowing in from the cold North Sea. In the south and west it could be warm during dry and sunny periods but when the wet weather comes along temperatures will take a dip.

A changeable outlook is shown with the wettest conditions in the southern half of the UK during the first half of the period. There is a bias for above average upper air temperatures to continue for much of the time. Despite that it remains chilly in the east and north east for much of the time due to an easterly flow.
