Friday is off to a wet start in Northern Ireland and much of Scotland. Elsewhere it is dry and less cold than recent mornings. Through the day outbreaks of rain continue to affect the north west and this afternoon they push into Wales and parts of western England. Central and eastern Britain stay dry but after a sunny start cloud amounts increase.

Tonight the wet weather in Northern Ireland and north western Britain slowly fades away. In southern counties heavy showery outbreaks of rain develop during the second half of the night. Elsewhere it will be mostly dry.
Tomorrow heavy bursts of rain push northwards over central Britain. Their exact track is somewhat uncertain and parts of eastern England could have dry and warm spells with temperatures reaching close to 18C (64F).
In the afternoon it may turn drier in southern and central areas for a time but further spells of rain could arrive in the evening. Northern Ireland and Scotland have sunny spells and showers.
ICON 00z, forecast precipitation, 16:00 BST Sat 7th April
By Sunday high pressure will be building to the north of the UK. The north has a mix of sunny spells and showers but in parts of the south more persistent rain is possible. Very warm air remains close to the south eastern corner and in any sunny spells that develop temperatures rapidly climb.
During the first half of next week an easterly flow becomes established over the UK. Unlike in late February and mid March the air over continental Europe is very mild but because the North Sea is cold so it won't be a Feast from the East. Therefore in eastern counties it could be quite raw with the brightest and warmest weather in the west.
