Storm Georgina is bringing severe weather to parts of the UK this morning. A band of heavy rain and very strong winds is affecting Wales and much of Northern England. To the north there are heavy showers and in western Scotland it is stormy. This morning the squally rain and strong winds push into southern counties and they bring a risk of disruption. Gusts of between 60mph and 70mph are possible in inland areas and around 85mph in exposed western locations.
The chart below (from the ICON forecast model) shows forecast gusts at 09:00 GMT today. The area of strongest winds across England is moving southeastwards. It is also stormy in the Western Isles and western Scotland.

By early afternoon brighter and showery conditions return to most of the UK but in the south east outbreaks of rain may not fully clear until the early evening. Stormy conditions transfer eastwards across Scotland and the strongest winds in England move away into the near continent.
Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in Scotland to a very mild 13C (55F) in the south this morning. The clearer conditions mark the boundary between colder air so temperatures will be dropping markedly as the rain clears southwards. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight it remains blustery with wintry showers in the west. Clear spells may lead to a touch of frost in sheltered areas.
Tomorrow and Friday bring sunny spells but there will be showers too, especially in the west. It will be be rather chilly and in the north showers could fall as sleet or snow at times.
On Saturdays outbreaks of rain move in from the Atlantic. Pressure is expected to be rising across southern counties so they probably start to fragment as they push southeastwards. Sunday brings further wet weather to the northern half of the UK but the south remains drier.
Next week is looking mixed but the south is expected to have a reasonable amount of dry weather. It could turn colder as high pressure becomes centred to the southwest of the UK and winds turn into a northwesterly direction.
