Friday begins frosty in much of the UK and in parts of the north and west there are wintry showers.Through the day sunny spells develop but the showers become more widespread again and in the north further accumulations of snow are possible.
Temperatures range from 3C (37F) in Scotland to 7C (45F) in the south. See the rainfall and precipitation type radar for the latest view.
Tonight clear spells lead to a widespread frost in the north. In southern and central regions increasing amounts of cloud may lift temperatures above freezing point during the second half of the night.
Tomorrow wintry showers continue in the north. In central and southern regions there is a risk of more prolonged outbreaks of rain and sleet spreading eastwards. Over high ground they could turn to snow and accumulations are possible in some locations. The forecast chart below shows where the rain, sleet and snow may be at midday tomorrow, but there is uncertainty and some computer models show the wet conditions only affecting the far south.

In the afternoon it turns brighter from the west and a widespread frost returns during the early part of the night. Later on a band of rain pushes up from the southwest and it will be preceded by snow in the north and possibly in parts of the east too. On Sunday heavy falls of snow are possible in the north east of Britain. During the afternoon drier and much milder conditions push into the west.
Next week is looking changeable. Temperatures probably fluctuate around the seasonal average and all areas have outbreaks of heavy rain at times.
