The week ahead will bring a mixed bag of weather. Milder conditions return by Tuesday but colder air is expected to return by next weekend. All areas see rain at times.
Sunday begins with a band of showers pushing southwards and in the west there are some heavy ones. Through the day the showers increasingly become confined to eastern coastal counties and Scotland. Over high ground they will be wintry and fall as snow at times. Elsewhere sunny spells develop but it will be windy and cold.
Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in Scotland to 7C (45F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight showers continue near the east coast. Elsewhere clear spells lead to a widespread frost.
Tomorrow the south has a cold and bright day. In the north winds strengthen and outbreaks of heavy rain push in from the west. Over the Scottish mountains the rain could be preceded by snow.
During Tuesday patchy rain affects much of the country but the heaviest outbreaks are expected in northern and western areas. It will be milder than recently. Similar conditions are likely on Wednesday.
During the second half of the week changeable weather continues with bands of rain and colder air probably pushing southwards.
