Much of the UK will be dry and bright today. The next few day look mixed and at the weekend a plunge of Arctic air will bring colder conditions.
Wednesday begins dry and frosty apart from in the south eastern corner where cloud and patchy rain is just clearing. This morning sunny spells develop but cloud builds in the north west. Through the afternoon outbreaks of rain spread across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Elsewhere it stays dry but it will turn cloudier.
Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight rain spreads southeastwards but it becomes light and patchy. Clearer skies follow from the north west.
Tomorrow begins damp in southern counties but it should become drier during the morning. Elsewhere there will be sunny spells but the far north has scattered showers.
Friday morning will be mostly dry and bright. During the second half of the day heavy outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards and colder air follows from the northwest. The wet weather is expected to clear the south east on Saturday morning to leave a cold and showery weekend. Showers turn wintry over high ground in central and northern areas and perhaps down to lower levels at times in Scotland.
