Cold and crisp Bonfire Night

[Updated 08:40 05/11/2017]

Fireworks

The week ahead is looking mixed with all areas seeing rain at times. Later on it could become milder with a good deal of dry weather in the south.

Sunday begins bright and cold in much of the country but there are showers in the north and west. The rest of the day brings sunny spells but it will be chilly and quite windy. Showers continue although they become lighter and increasingly restricted to coastal counties.

Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

If you're having fireworks this evening wrap up warm! Clear periods will lead to a cold and frosty night in much of the country. Late on cloud builds across Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

Tomorrow heavy outbreaks of rain extend across the north west. Elsewhere it remains dry but increasingly cloudy. After a cold start temperatures will struggle.

On Tuesday the wet weather slowly pushes southeastwards but it probably lingers into the evening in the south east and East Anglia. Clearer and showery conditions return elsewhere.

The weather remains mixed during the rest of the week. Further bands of rain will move in from the Atlantic but they weaken as they push southeastwards. Temperatures could also pick up as more of a southwesterly component to the flow develops.

Buzz looks ahead to next week. TWO's third winter discussion update, "Winter is coming" has been issued.
