Fine once the mist lifts

[Updated 07:20 02/11/2017]

Fog

The short term brings more quiet weather, although outbreaks of rain are expected in the southern half of the UK on Saturday. Next week a trend towards more unsettled and rather chilly conditions is expected.

Thursday begins mostly dry. Locally in southern and northern regions there has been a touch of frost. This morning mist in the south lifts and sunny spells develop widely. It remains fine during the afternoon but in the south the amount of cloud increases.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the north to 14C (57F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight light spells of rain affect the north west but elsewhere it stays dry. It will be chilly and it could turn misty by the morning.

Tomorrow cloud builds and in the west light outbreaks of rain develop. Overnight and through Saturday morning wet weather spreads eastwards. The rain is expected to become heavy rain across much of England and Wales. Clearer conditions follow but there will be showers and over high ground in Scotland they turn wintry. Sunday should be mainly dry and chilly with sunny spells.

Monday looks dry in the east but wet weather returns to the west. During Tuesday the rain slowly clears southeastwards and is followed by cool and showery conditions following from the northwest.
