October was a mild month with the Central England Temperature (CET) finishing close to 2C above the average. The first half of November looks mixed but the Atlantic may remain relatively sleepy for the time of year.
Wednesday starts wet in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. The rain becomes lighter and slowly edges southwards during the day. Behind it showers develop but ahead of it in England and Wales it remains dry and bright.
Temperatures range from 12C (54F) to 15C (59F). See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight cloud and patchy rain moves southwards into central areas. The south stays dry and and in the north there could be a touch of frost as skies clear.
Tomorrow central and northern areas have sunny spells. The south will be mostly overcast and there could be a few spots of rain.
Friday begins dry and chilly. During the day cloud spreads eastwards and in the west light outbreaks of rain develop. Overnight and through Saturday morning wet weather spreads eastwards with heavy rain in the south. Clearer conditions follow but there will be showers and over high ground in Scotland they turn wintry. Sunday looks mostly dry and quite chilly.
