The week ahead brings changeable weather but southern areas stay dry for much of the time. After a chilly start it turns milder but temperatures dip again later on.
Monday begins with the first widespread frost of the autumn.This morning patchy outbreaks of rain affect the north west of the UK. During the afternoon they push eastwards across Scotland and possibly into northern England. Elsewhere it remains dry and in the south there will be sunny spells throughout the day.
Temperatures range from a cold 5C (41F) in northern Scotland to to 11C (52F) in the south west of England. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight central and northern regions have patchy outbreaks of rain. In the south it stays dry and it will be quite chilly.
Tomorrow wet weather affects central and northern areas and some rain is likely in the north west. The south remains and bright.
North western areas have more wet weather on Wednesday. Elsewhere a mostly dry and quite mild day is expected but in the south there will be a lot of cloud.
Through the second half of the week cooler air gradually spreads down from the northwest and by the weekend showers turn wintry over the Scottish mountains. The south has a good deal of dry weather, although there is the possibility of rain on Saturday.
