Disruption from Storm Brian

[Updated 07:15 20/10/2017]

Stormy weather

Storm Brian will bring disruptive winds and rain to parts of the UK tonight and tomorrow. Next week changeable weather continues but it may become more settled in the south and east.

Friday starts wet in much of the UK and it is windy across the south. This morning the rain clears away eastwards and sunny  spells develop. Through the afternoon it turns wet and windy in the south west, Wales and Northern Ireland as Storm Brian approaches. Elsewhere it stays dry and bright.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in Scotland to 15C (59F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight a band of rain spreads eastwards across all regions and clearer conditions follow on. It will be stormy in the south west and Wales with wind gusts of up to 70mph likely.

Disruption expected tomorrow

Tomorrow Storm Brian continues to bring the risk of disruption to the southern half of the UK. Heavy showery outbreaks of rain spread eastwards and it remains very windy in the south and west. Gusts of around 60mph are expected in exposed parts of the west and during the evening winds may strengthen for a time again.

Sunday will see drier and brighter conditions returning. It becomes progressively less windy too.
