Much warmer weather will develop in the south and east during the coming days. Early next week the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia come into play.
Thursday begins showery in Scotland but elsewhere it is mostly dry. Through the day central and eastern areas remain dry. In the north and west thicker cloud brings the likelihood of light spells of rain.
Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the north to 18C (64F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight wet and windy weather spreads across much of the north and west. The south and east will be dry.
Tomorrow rain continues in the north and west but the south and east stay dry and warm. It will be windy with gales in central and northern areas.
Saturday should be fine and warm in southern and eastern areas. The north west will be cooler with patchy outbreaks of rain. A mostly dry Sunday is expected. The southern half of the UK has a very warm day and temperatures could reach 25C (77F) in East Anglia and the south east.
On Monday the remnants of Hurricane Ophelia push northwards with the centre of the system probably tracking just to the west of the UK. Forecast details are uncertain but there is a risk of stormy conditions in the west. The east probably remains dry and very warm.
