Warm up on the way

[Updated 06:40 10/10/2017]

Autumn colours

Unsettled weather continues in the north and west. In the south and east it will often be fine and temperatures could climb to 23C (73F) this weekend.

Tuesday begins overcast with patchy outbreaks of rain but through the morning it becomes mostly dry. This afternoon wet and windy weather returns to Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Elsewhere it remains fine.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the north to 18C (64F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight heavy rain and strong winds affect northern and western areas. The south and east stay dry.

Tomorrow a band of rain pushes southeastwards but it becomes progressively more fragmented. The remnants reach the south eastern corner by the evening. Clearer and showery conditions follow on from the north west.

Thursday is looking dry and bright in the south but there will be more cloud in the north. On Friday wet weather affects the north and west again. The south and east stay dry and it will be warm.

The latest guidance suggests the fine and unseasonably warm conditions will last through the weekend in the south and east. In the north west more rain is expected.
