High pressure ahead

[Updated 08:25 08/10/2017]

Autumn colours

The outlook remains mixed but the high pressure should bring a good deal of dry weather to the south. It could become quite warm with some computer model runs showing temperatures reaching 21C (70F).

Sunday starts mostly dry and with variable amounts of cloud. Sunny spells develop with the best of them in the southern half of the UK. The north keeps cloudier skies with showers in western Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the north to 17C (63F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight showery rain affects Scotland and western regions. The east remains mostly dry.

Tomorrow patchy outbreaks of rain fade away and bright spells develop. Overnight and through Tuesday another band of wet and windy weather pushes eastwards but rain will be patchy in the south.

During the middle part of the week it remains unsettled in the north and west. The south and east should have a good deal of dry weather and it will be quite warm for mid October.

Through the second half of the week a warm southwesterly flow is expected as high pressure builds to the south and east. The north west probably remains changeable.
