The outlook is mixed. High pressure will bring dry periods but all regions have wet and windy conditions at times.
Thursday starts with a narrow band of rain across central areas but this morning it quickly clears southwards. The rest of the day should be dry and bright, although there will be scattered showers in the north. The wind steadily eases in the south but it strengthens in eastern Scotland with gales likely in the second half of the day.
Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in the north to 16C (61F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight it remains dry. Clear spells develop and it becomes less blustery. It will be cold with a touch of ground frost in parts of the north and west.
Tomorrow starts fine but cold. During the second half of the day cloud and rain return to Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Elsewhere it remains dry but cloud amounts increase.
The weekend looks quite mixed. Early on Saturday a band of patchy rain clears southeastwards. Another area of wet weather affects the north west and that steadily pushes southwards. Sunday should be dry in the south but showers are possible in the north.
