The outlook is mixed. High pressure will bring dry periods but all regions have wet and windy conditions at times.
Wednesday begins with a band of rain stretching across Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Through the course of the day heavy outbreaks of rain spread eastwards to affect much of north western Britain. Elsewhere it remains mostly dry with some bright spells. It will be windy in the north.
Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in the north to 15C (59F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight wet and windy weather spreads into central and southern Britain. Gale force winds are expected in much of the southern half of the UK with gusts of up to 65mph possible in central and western areas.
Tomorrow brighter skies return to all areas. It will be blustery but winds steadily ease through the day.
Friday starts fine but chilly with a ground frost in places. During the second half of the day cloud and rain return to Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
The weekend looks quite mixed. On Saturday a band of rain clears southeastwards to leave dry conditions but another area of wet weather possibly affects northern Scotland. Sunday should be dry in the south but the north could have patchy rain.
