Spells of very wet and windy weather affect all regions in the coming days and there is a likelihood of the season's second named storm, Storm Brian. Next week high pressure may bring drier conditions back to the south.
Thursday begins with patchy outbreaks of rain in the east. Through the morning sunny spells develop in the west and drier conditions push eastwards. The afternoon should be mostly dry with variable amounts but during the evening it turns wet and windy in Northern Ireland.
Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north to 19C (66F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight heavy outbreaks of rain push eastwards across the UK. Clearer conditions follow into the Northern Ireland.
Tomorrow drier conditions return but the rain may be slow to clear the south east. Bright spells follow on but in the north west heavy showers develop.
The weekend is looking unsettled but forecast details are uncertain. The latest data suggests that after a dry start on Saturday an area of heavy rain and strong winds will spread eastwards. Sunday brings further wet and windy weather, especially in the southern half of the UK.
