Wet and windy outlook

[Updated 07:00 27/09/2017]

Puddle

Unsettled weather brings periods of rain during the rest of the week and it could be stormy on Sunday. Next week high pressure may bring drier conditions back to the south.

Wednesday is off to a dry start in Britain but rain is pushing into Northern Ireland. Through the day wet and windy weather spreads across western parts of the UK. Central and eastern areas stay dry with some warm sunny spells, although cloud will thicken this afternoon.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north west to a warm 21C (70F) in East Anglia and the south east. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain push eastwards across all regions and at times they will be heavy. Clearer conditions follow into the west.

Tomorrow morning the rain clears from the east. Bright skies follow on and there should be some pleasant sunshine in the afternoon.

The rest of the week will be unsettled with rain at times. It could become very windy on Sunday and severe gales are possible in the north west.
