Fine and quite warm day

[Updated 07:00 26/09/2017]

Unsettled weather is likely during the second half of the week. A strengthening jet stream will give the Atlantic flow the upper hand over high pressure centred to the north east of the UK.

Tuesday starts dry in much of the country. Through the day eastern regions have sunny periods but there is a risk of an odd shower. In the west there will be some brightness this morning but during the afternoon cloud builds.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north west to a warm 21C (70F) in East Anglia and the south east. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight it stays mainly dry but winds strengthen across the north west. By the end of the night outbreaks of rain could reach Northern Ireland.

Tomorrow wet and windy weather slowly extends across western parts of the UK. The east remains fine.

On Thursday spells of rain push eastwards with brighter conditions following on. It will be quite warm in the east.

During the rest of the week all regions have rain at times. It could become very windy with the possibility of severe gales in the north west later on Sunday.
