Staying cool and showery

Showers

The weather remains remains cool and showery in the next couple of days but high pressure will be building in from the west this weekend. Next week should begin drier and warmer but unsettled conditions could return later.

Thursday starts with showers in places, and across central England and Wales some of them are prolonged. The rest of the day brings some brighter spells but showers continue, and at times they will be heavy and thundery. It remains blustery.

Temperatures will be similar to recent days ranging from 10C (50F) in north Scotland to 18C (64F) in sheltered parts of the south. See the the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight dry periods and clear spells develop across the southern half of the UK. In Scotland a band of rain is likely to spread southwards and by the morning it could reach northern England and Wales.

Tomorrow it's a similar picture as the UK remains under a chilly northerly air stream. Showers could be prolonged in southern and central areas early on. 

A gradual changes takes places this weekend. Saturday remains cool and showery. By Sunday it should be mostly dry with  sunny spells in central and western regions. In eastern England further showers are expected.
