The next few says will be cool and showery. High pressure building from the west brings an increasing chance of a more settled period next week.
Storm Aileen led to stormy conditions overnight but it is now pulling away into the North Sea. In the north there are still some heavy outbreaks of rain but the south is drier. Through the day winds ease but showers become widespread and heavy. They will be most frequent in the north and west.
Temperatures range from 11C (52F) in the north to 18C (64F) in the south. See the the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight the showers retreat back to coastal counties. Inland it becomes mostly dry and cold with clear periods.
Tomorrow a mix of sunshine and blustery showers continues as the UK remains under a chilly northerly air stream. It's a similar situation on Friday, although there is a risk of more prolonged spells of rain pushing southwards.
During the weekend high pressure will be slowly edging in from the west but it looks like a chilly and showery Saturday. Sunday could be slightly warmer with more dry and sunny spells.
