The weekend will bring unsettled weather. Next week further rain is expected but by mid-month it may be turning drier from the south.
Friday is off to a very mixed start with rain in much of the south and downpours affecting parts of western Britain. Through the day wet and windy conditions continue in the south but it steadily turns brighter from the west. Elsewhere there will be sunny spells and showers with the heaviest ones focused on the west.
Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the north to 17C (63F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight it become mostly dry in central and eastern areas. Showers continue to affect the west.
Tomorrow there will be showers in the west from the word go. Elsewhere it begins dry but during the day showers push eastwards, at times becoming heavy and thundery. It will be cool and quite windy with gales in exposed parts of the south west. Overnight and through Sunday wet and windy weather spreads southeastwards. Clearer skies follow but there will be more showers.
The first half of next week brings more cool and unsettled weather.
