The outlook for the next week is very unsettled and autumnal which will be a contrast with recent Septembers. By mid-month drier periods are more likely in the south.
Wednesday begins with showers dotted around but it is mainly dry. Through the day scattered showers continue with most of them in the north of the UK. It will be blustery with sunny spells but also cloudier skies at times.
Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the north west to 20C (68F) in the south. Check the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight a few continue but most places remain dry. In the west cloud builds and by the morning wet weather spreads into Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
Tomorrow heavy outbreaks of rain push eastwards across the north. The south has drier conditions but there could be some patchy rain. It will become very windy with gales in the north and west.
Friday and the weekend look unsettled and autumnal. All regions have blustery showers and possibly more prolonged spells of rain. Buzz discusses some of the UK's most memorable weather events from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
