Fine Saturday for most

[Updated 07:10 02/09/2017]

Fine weather

The autumn forecast has been issued and the headline is for an unsettled and at times stormy season. In the shorter term a reasonable amount of dry weather is expected, especially in the south.

Saturday starts dry and chilly. The rest of the day remains mostly fine, although scattered showers are likely in the south east. Sunny periods develop widely but this afternoon cloud builds in the west.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north to 21C (70F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain pushes into Northern Ireland and by the morning it reaches western Britain. Elsewhere it stays dry.

Tomorrow the wet weather moves eastwards. Some heavy outbreaks of rain are likely but they become patchier through the day. Eastern England should remain dry.

Early next week a series of weather fronts bring unsettled conditions but most of the rain is likely to be in the north and west. In the south dry periods are expected and with quite a warm air mass over the UK temperatures could climb into the low 20Cs. Cooler conditions return during the middle of the week. Buzz looks at the meteorological autumn. It's that time of the year again!
