The autumn forecast has been issued and the headline is for an unsettled and at times stormy season. In the shorter term a reasonable amount of fine weather is expected, especially in the south.
Friday starts dry and chilly for most. Through the day sunny spells develop but showers break out again. They will be focused on central and eastern England with much of the north and west of the UK staying dry and bright.
Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north west to 20C (68F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight the showers fade away and clear spells form. It will be chilly with the risk of a ground frost in sheltered western and northern locations.
Tomorrow sunny spells develop widely and after a cold start it will feel pleasantly warm. In the afternoon cloud builds in the west, and overnight wet weather pushes across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. Through Sunday some heavy outbreaks of rain are likely but eastern England should remain dry.
Next week it remains changeable in the north. In the south high pressure probably keep things drier for much of the time but there is a risk of some rain. Buzz looks at the meteorological autumn.
