Summer in the south

The Bank Holiday weekend will bring fine and warm weather to the south but the north remains changeable. Next week cooler air returns southwards and September could begin quite mixed.

Friday starts wet in Northern Ireland and parts of southern Scotland. To the north there are scattered showers but to the south it is dry. Through the rest of the day further heavy showery bursts of rain affect the north west of the UK. Elsewhere it remains mostly fine and in the south there will be a good deal of sunshine.

Temperatures this afternoon range from 15C (59F) in the north to a warm 25C (77F) in the south east. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers continue in the north and some rain is likely to spread into Wales and central areas.

Tomorrow scattered showers are expected but many places have a dry day with sunny periods. On Sunday it stays dry and warm in the south and east. The north and west probably have cloudier conditions and showers.

During Bank Holiday Monday heavy rain pushes into the north west and slowly spreads southeastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Much of England and Wales is likely to hang on to dry and sunny weather. In the south and east it could be very warm with temperatures possibly reaching 27C (81F).
