Brighter from the west

The outlook remains mixed. In the north further wet weather is expected but high pressure may keep the south drier.

Wednesday starts with heavy rain affecting much of the north but in the south it is dry. Through the day the rain pushes eastwards and it turns drier from the west. In southern and central regions there could be a few showers but it should be mostly dry. This afternoon it tuns brighter and fresher in the west.

Temperatures range from about 18C (64F) in the west to a humid 25C (77F) in East Anglia. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight scattered showers affect the north west but elsewhere it stays dry. It will be cooler than recent nights.

Tomorrow heavy showery rain spreads into the north west of the UK. The rest of the country has a dry and bright day. Friday brings similar conditions.

The Bank Holiday weekend looks varied. On Saturday heavy showers affect Scotland. Scattered showers are possible elsewhere but they become increasingly confined to the east.
