A deep area of low pressure and its associated frontal systems will bring wet and windy weather to all regions in the next 24 hours. Thereafter quite a lot of dry weather is likely in the south but the north remains more unsettled.
Wednesday is off to a wet start in Northern Ireland but elsewhere it is dry. During the course of the day cloud and heavy outbreaks of rain extend across much of northern and western Britain. Central and eastern England stay dry but cloud amounts increase from the west. It becomes windy in the north and west with gales in coastal counties.
Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the north west to 23C (73F) in the south east. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight wet and windy weather pushes eastwards. By the end of night clearer skies return to most areas but rain continues in south eastern England.
Tomorrow morning drier and brighter conditions gradually return to the south eastern corner. Central and northern regions have a mix of sunshine and showers.
Friday is expected to be fine in the south. Northern areas have showers or more prolonged spells of rain.
The south should often be dry and bright this weekend. In the north it remains more changeable with showers on Saturday and the risk of rain on Sunday.
