Further wet weather is likely during the next few days. By the middle of next week a more settled period could begin to develop as high pressure builds from the southwest.
Friday starts showery in the west and more persistent outbreaks of rain are affecting much of Scotland. Elsewhere it is mostly fine. Through the day it turns brighter in Scotland but the risk of showers remains. The rest of the country has sunny spells but showers too, and a few heavy ones are possible this afternoon.
Maximum temperatures range from 14C (57F) in the north west to 22C (72F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight it becomes mostly dry and skies clear. Late in the night showers push into Wales and south western England.
Tomorrow morning heavy showery rain spreads eastwards across southern and central areas, but it should turn brighter from the west in the afternoon. The north has a mix of sunny spells and showers. On Sunday wet weather pushes into the north and west but elsewhere it probably remains dry. During Monday and Tuesday the rain clears southeastwards with showery conditions following on behind.
