The weather remains changeable in the next few days. After a band of rain clears southeastwards early next week a drier and more settled period looks quite likely.
Thursday is off to a showery start. Through the rest of the day heavy showers continue in the north and west. At times they could be thundery, and as they merge together some longer spells of rain are possible. In the south bright spells develop and many places should have a dry afternoon. It will be very windy in southern and central regions.
Maximum temperatures range from 14C (57F) in the north west to 22C (72F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight showery rain continues in the north. The south has a mostly dry night with clear periods.
Tomorrow the showery theme continues in the north but the south should be mostly dry and bright. It remains blustery with the strongest winds in north eastern England.
The weekend looks mixed. All regions have sunshine and showers on Saturday. On Sunday outbreaks of rain spread across much of the north and west but elsewhere it probably remains dry. During Monday and Tuesday wet weather clears southeastwards.
