As a whole, probably classed as "reasonable" in terms of seasonal conditions. The cold spell of January was the only real cold highlight here with one significant snowfall and few other lesser ones. That spell also gave the 2 coldest nights of the winter although there was a distinct lack of severe frost throughout the season. Although not winter, March's cold weather added little to the overall picture apart from one 4cm snowfall and a severe frost that came in 3rd behind January's colder ones. Other downsides have been the persistent cold winds, high rainfall(especially early on) and general dullness 

As I count March as Winter it has been a good one IMO the only really surprising factor was the lack of really severe frosts, too much clound around.

The canal here in Banbury didn't freeze, which is quite rare during a cold winter

I'd have to say its been interesting winter at my own location. I actually recorded 20 days with snow falling which for a lowland location within 3 miles of the English Channel is pretty good. Lying snow has been a different matter.
With only the fall on friday January 18th providing a deep cover of 10cm which lasted for about 5 days.

There was also a memorable if short lived blizzard of about 3 hours duration in the early evening of 22nd January with huge flakes which covered even wet roads within a few minutes but in the end amounted to only to about 3 cms.

Strangely the most talked about month namely March was the biggest let down with no significant snowfall and unremarkable mimima. Minus 4.5 being the lowest. As for maxima apart from the amazing low max of 1.2c on the 12th there were no other extremely low maxima of note. Here it was just the wind that made it feel bitter.

An interesting and enjoyable winter but not a classic.

Still for the UK AS whole the 4th colder than average winter period in the last 5 years.
Seems to be the beginnings of a possible of a pattern developing, next winter will interesting to see which way it goes. Hopefully though we will have a reasonable summer before we have to start worrying about that.

It has been pretty good here in the NYM National Park, lots of days with snowfall from the earliest fall at the end of October to the almost weekly falls when winter got going in January up to now. Nothing excessively deep but lots of snowy days. 

It has been along old winter here in the north midlands but as gooner says no severe frost but alot of snow

Like I said in an earlier post it was a good Winter overall for settling snow here, but mainly dull skies by both day and night meant there was a distinct lack of very cold nights (below -10C), it is a shame really as that would have made the snow on the ground freeze solid during the nights. I'll remember this Winter as cold, very cloudy with above average days of falling and lying snow.

Very pleased with how this one went. Feel I got temperatures and the overall pattern pretty close. Precipitation did catch me out somewhat, but generally a decent LRF following on from a decent autumn forecast in 2012.

I seem to be on a roll. The only wat is down from here.

If we include March then Winter 2012/13 turned out to be excellent and verging on epic. Sure, there was no particularly deep cold but I counted seven significant falls of snow, 30 days with snow lying up here and 13 ice days. All in all, a pretty amazing result.

March 2013 more than made up for what was a fairly average winter overall here
