20C after low of 19C last night. Clear spells and light ENE wind F2 on coast.

The higher cirrus type clouds against the blue skies have been amazing at times in the past few days.

Here in Edinburgh, there is some cloud around this morning but that isn't amounting to much and so, this morning has started off on a bright and sunny note here.

Last night was much cooler than of late with an overnight minimum temperature of 10.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am BST (06:00 UTC) this morning was around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

Aha!! I sense a change of location from the usual one, but I also know that you like to travel about a lot.

Because of that, you are more than welcome to come back to Edinburgh at any time (possibly when the Festival is on) for a visit if you ever feel like doing so.

Meanwhile, today started off bright and sunny here and the Sun is still shining as I write, but there is now a lot more in the way of cloud building up which means that we are now only really getting occasional sunny spells rather than actual constant sunshine.

Having said that though, a total of 1.5 hours of sunshine has already been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 9am BST (08:00 UTC) this morning.

Meanwhile, the temperature at that same time was around 15°C here in Edinburgh.

This morning and early afternoon brought us some decent sunny spells at times, although a total of just 3.5 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, it has since clouded over and there is a band of showers which has just moved in here, which is stretching out towards my SW from here as shown on the latest radar maps.

Indeed, it is raining just now though not all that heavily and it looks as though it is passing through quite quickly.

I'm not aware of any rain being forecast for here today, but that is something which is very badly needed here and so, I am more than happy to accept whatever rainfall we get whether that is expected or not.

As a result of that, the temperature here in Edinburgh has also dropped back from a peak of around 18°C at 12 noon to around 16°C as at 3pm BST (14:00 UTC) this afternoon which isn't even the least bit warm for this time of the year any more.

Of course, I know that you're not actually in Aberdeen just now although there is actually an outside chance that parts of Scotland could get just as hot during the early part of next week as it is currently where you are.

Anyway and back on topic, the earlier shower of rain which we had produced so little actual recorded rainfall as per usual (just a very small fraction of 1 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and nothing at all at Edinburgh Gogarbank) that it isn't even worth reporting here.

Since then, we have seen increasing amounts of sunshine once again which has now led us into a bright and sunny end to today, although a total of just 4.9 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7pm (18:00 UTC) this evening.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 18.9°C.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7pm BST (18:00 UTC) this evening was around 17°C here in Edinburgh.
