Low pressure is dominating the weather at the moment and the coming week will see more spells of showers and longer spells of rain courtesy of low pressure but having said that there will be drier and warmer weather on offer too.

Saturday morning has been dry and bright in the east but we've also had showers in the west with longer spells of rain for Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

Through the rest of the day we'll see more showers across central, northern and western regions with some heavy and thunder downpours possible in places. Eastern and southeastern regions are likely to stay dry but even here some showers are possible. Winds will be blustery in the west with temperatures ranging from 15C to 22C.

Overnight, low pressure deepens to the west of Ireland with heavy showers merging into longer spells of rain for parts of Northern Ireland, south west Scotland, north west England and north Wales. Elsewhere showers are likely in the south west but many central and eastern regions will stay mostly dry. Winds will strengthen further with gusts reaching 50-60MPH around Irish Sea coasts and headlands. Temperatures will range from 10C to 15C.

Low pressure continues to dominate the weather tomorrow. Western regions will start with more general outbreaks of rain and blustery winds while the east will be mostly dry. We'll see the general rain turning more showery with some heavy and thundery showers in the north and west again tomorrow afternoon. Meanwhile the south and east remains mostly dry with a just a few showers. Winds will remain strong in the west but should gradually moderate as the day wears on. Temperatures range from 15C to 23C.

Sunday night and Monday morning will bring more heavy showers and maybe longer spells of rain across much of the country though southern counties are likely to have fewer showers. As Monday itself wears on most of the showers will become confined to the north and north east while the bulk of the country turns dry and bright with sunny spells ahead of thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain moving towards the country from the Atlantic. Temperatures range from 14C to 21C.

The next area of low pressure moves in from the Atlantic on Tuesday. Western regions will have cloud and outbreaks of rain for much of the day but central and eastern England and Scotland will stay dry with the best of the sunshine in the east. Temperatures 13C to 24C west to east.

Temperatures could reach a very warm 27C in the south east of England but north west Scotland probably only has temperatures of 13C.

The weather becomes quite complex on Thursday with a thundery area of low pressure developing over France and moving northwards. This could bring heavy showers, thunderstorms or longer spells of thundery rain northwards across England and Wales while Scotland and Northern Ireland has a mostly dry day. Temperatures look cool at 12C to 20C. Very uncertain though.

Friday probably has low pressure over the country with showers or longer spells of rain likely though as always the devil will be in the detail. Cool temperatures again at 12C to 21C. Very uncertain again.

Next weekend will probably keep the weather rather cool with northwesterly winds and showers mostly in the north.

Summary: Changeable with showers or longer spells of rain in the west and north but plenty of dry weather in the east and south. Risk of thundery rain in the south later in the week.
