Not much going on here as per usual, other than the usual story of a lot of cloud around with only occasional sunny intervals and absolutely nothing in the way of actual weather (at least, in terms of anything which can be regarded as being the least bit "interesting" in any way). Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 10.4°C. Meanwhile, the temperature at 10am BST (09:00 UTC) this morning was around 15°C here in Edinburgh. |
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh. |

Was forecast to get some sunshine and showers like what we used to get from a North Westerly. Reality vile thick grey overcast nothingness with that revolting unpleasant wind worse than ever. Makes the current dire temperature of 11.8C seem even colder. A totally useless hideous excuse for a summer day. Disgusting serving no purpose whatsoever |

Overcast and damp, it tried to brighten up on a couple of occasions. A clammy 15.2 C & 83% H but the NE breeze is much lighter compared to yesterday. At least I won't feel guilty for doing a roast dinner today.

Bright again with fresh NE breeze. And as I thought it would do earlier the rain has done its division trick. One batch to the east and the other to the west with the clear split appearing in the Portland area moving up. Remarkable how often this occurs. There is more to the south so still a chance of a good garden soak but I wouldn't count on it.

After that overcast morning, the afternoon turned out fair with some sunny spells but is now overcast again.
15.7 C & 73% H, mod NE breeze. Managed a peak of 17.4 C at 2.50 pm.

Here in Edinburgh, today is ending on a much sunnier note although a total of just 2.9 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 6pm BST (17:00 UTC) this evening and we haven't had anything like the high sunshine totals during this month as what Richard has had in Aberdeen (which is one of the few thing about the weather up there which he has actually been happy with just lately, which in itself is such rare event that it has to go down as quite a historic moment within the entire history of the TWO forum).
In fact, I would probably even go as far as saying that I am less happy with our sunshine totals here in Edinburgh so far this month than what Richard is about this month's sunshine stats up there because our sunshine totals are actually running a little bit below average at Edinburgh Gogarbank (we are almost a third of the way through this month, but we have only had just over 60% of 1991-2020 June average sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank during this month so far). However, today has once again turned out to not as cool as I was expecting it to be and the temperature at 6pm BST (17:00 UTC) this evening was around 18°C which is actually no worse than the average for this time of the year in this part of the world. |
