Although there was some brightness around for most of the time during today, it was particularly cloudy once again in the afternoon and evening so in the end, a total of just 42 minutes of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
That would be seen as being really abysmal at any time of the year even in the darkest part of the winter, so the fact that we are now less than 2 weeks away from the summer solstice just makes that even worse still.
However, today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 18.7°C so today was the first day for a while when the temperature actually wasn't below average for once although the wait for our first temperature of this year of 20°C or above goes on.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm BST tonight (21:00 UTC) was around 15°C which is still higher than most of the maximum temperatures which we have witnessed in recent days.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
