Here in Edinburgh, today started off on such an unseasonably cold note that there was even a ground frost at Edinburgh Gogarbank during last night with the minimum temperature dropping to a ridiculously cold (for this time of the year, anyway) 2.3°C which is a lot colder than a lot of our nights even in the middle of winter, and which is more like our average minimum temperature in December rather than June!
That should tell you just how much this complete non-event (I know that it is completely different story in some other parts of the country, but I'm only describing what it's like here) which is known as our so-called "summer" has now gone completely down the toilet pan here.
There has been some sunshine during today with a total of 5.9 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 2pm this afternoon.
However, there is a lot more cloud around today than what there was during yesterday, although that is mostly in the form of medium to high cloud.
There is a stronger wind today from off the North Sea and the temperature at 2pm BST (14:00 UTC) was just a very disappointing (for this time of year) 14°C here in Edinburgh.
