Here in Edinburgh, January 2019 was actually even drier than this month with a total of just 10.2 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank and that was also a mild winter.


Also in that same month, there was a total of just 12.2 mm of rain at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Driest January recorded since 1997.   Final total is 14mm.   Only 2mm of rain fell from the 9th to the end of the month.


In fact this is the 3rd driest January in the last 40 years here.   Driest was Jan 1989 with 11mm.

Here in the south of Edinburgh. Swanston only recorded 23.5mm of rain (29%)

It was also mild (+2 C) and sunny (116%)
