Bright with some good sunshine as all the bubbly cumulus are bypassing to my north, drying up quickly in this brisk SW breeze.

Temperature dropped to just 13.5c in this shower. Not an especially heavy shower either was expecting more torrential downpours.

The rain which we had during last night and this morning has now once again turned out to be a very minor blip in the overall scale of things.

This is after all, a place where it hardly ever rains any more, which generally doesn't get "interesting" weather and where our weather is nearly always defined only in terms of how much cloud or sunshine is around.

Once this morning's rain cleared away, normal service on that front was very quickly resumed with more in the way of sunshine as we went further into this afternoon and evening.

As at 8pm this evening, a total of just 4.4 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank, but this means that there has now been more sunshine during this month than the 1981-2010 July average for that particular station so regardless of what happens between now and the end of this month, this month will now go down as being sunnier than average there.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 19.4°C, and the temperature at 8pm this evening was around 17°C with a much fresher feel to things.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
