A dull, dreary, depressing and soul destroying start to today with constant grey skies and with absolutely nothing else happening here whatsoever in terms of our weather as per usual.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 14.4°C and the temperature at 7am this morning was around 15°C here in Edinburgh.

Today isn't as hot as yesterday here in Edinburgh, but this is still turning out to be yet another reasonably warm day.

If you could see our see our weather just now, it would be very difficult to believe that the yellow warning for thunderstorms in this area which was recently issued by the Met Office has now been upgraded to an amber warning.

The clouds have broken up a lot since this morning with some sunshine at times, and the latest rain radar maps continue to show that there isn't even a single bit of precipitation in sight for miles on end from this part of the world.

In other words, this is just the same old story yet again which we have had for several weeks now, where our weather just will not change one single bit from one day to the next, regardless of the actual forecast and regardless of any official warnings which the Met Office might want to dish out in our direction, so this is going to go down as one big massive fail by the Met Office and the various models if these conditions continue to persist for the rest of today.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 1pm this afternoon was around 19°C here in Edinburgh.

A bit m'eh with overcast skies, spitty rain and the 17.4 C & 92% h feeling distinctly cool and fresh in a mod SW breeze. 3.6 mm so far today, most of that fell early morning.

This wouldn't look out of place in mid-October, yet this time last week I was on my second day sitting on garden chair soaking up the sun and was going to do that for a further three days.

It has now clouded over here in Edinburgh but apart from that, our weather just keeps on refusing to change in any way.

As at 7pm this evening, a total of just 2.5 hours of sunshine has been recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which still leaves us with a minimum total of at least 4.2 or more hours of sunshine, still needing to be recorded there between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average overall and there is now only another 4 days left of this month after today.

Thankfully, today has been nowhere as hot as yesterday in this part of the world but today has still been another warm day with today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank reaching 21.7°C.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7pm this evening was around 19°C here in Edinburgh which still feels rather muggy.

Finally at long last, we have an actual change in our weather as it is now raining here in Edinburgh as I write for only the first time in a couple of weeks, so it has been a long time since I have been able to say that.

Of course, I would much rather have had some thunder and lightning with that, but this is at least better than nothing. The ground is baked hard and solid with all of this hot, dry and sunny weather which we have had so we very badly need this rainfall.

It still feels very hot and sticky here but hopefully, it should cool down a bit over time.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 11pm tonight was around 16°C here in Edinburgh.
